Saving art is an imperative for our future

We are at the usual. Art pays the highest price in the struggle between young environmental activists and institutions.

Fighting climate change can be fine but it must be done with judgment. The works of art are not guilty, they are pieces of our history and remind us of the life and culture of a time, let us see how the great masters saw the world of their era.

Art should not be used as a scapegoat, as a way to make everyone aware of their frustration with the changing climate. Art can be our ally in the fight against climate change, it can show how many wonders of the past are likely to disappear if we do not hurry.

To take it with the works of art, with the great masters of the past means not to understand the great potential that art has if we just think about it, the great power that it has over those who look at it and admire it in museums or exhibitions, means to diminish the role that art has had and still has, means to ignore the important teachings that the great masters have wanted to give us through their works.

Reading yet another article about attacks on art hurts, very bad. Without those works our world would be sadder, darker, sadder. You do not have to make many efforts to see are sad, that huge sense of emptiness have people who for various reasons do not have access to exhibitions and museums, can not enjoy splendid works that are now part of our history, our life.

Art must be preserved and cared for, not damaged.
