Sorry if the topic I talk about today is a little off topic but reading this news a reflection is needed.
Cursive for me has been a natural evolution of writing learning and I sincerely believe that it is useful, it forces to be precise, it helps to use the whole sheet better when writing and for us kids it was like “feeling great” at least for a while.
Learning to master cursive was a kind of magic for me when I was little, and even as an adult at university it was normal to use italics in written exams to give proper importance to what are actually official documents.
You can’t not know how to write in italics in 2023 almost 2024, I think it’s like depriving girls and boys of something that should be natural and represent a fundamental stage of the growth process. Reading in italics is nice but if I think of all those years when this style of writing was almost no longer taught I almost cry.
Italics is precision and refinement, elegance and therefore we do not let this style of writing be forgotten because as experts say “Cursive forces to use the brain” And we can’t afford to have heads full of reality shows and junk shows, we start to read and write more in italics and everyone will benefit.
